Anger is understandable and often fully justifiable. It’s an emotion that needs a voice. Bottling up our feelings is not good for us. It’s like shaking a soda bottle with the lid on!! But holding on to anger for too long is bad for our health. Health and hurt can stay in the same room as each other but not health and anger. Anger eventually claims health. Our anger needs a voice but not a permanent home. Sometimes it’s forgiveness that needs our energy. Forgiveness is not a weakness as it actually sets us free. But it’s not easy.
Yesterday is over and nothing about it can be changed – except the sense we make of it. Sometimes we have to make the best possible sense of the past, learn from it and move on. The past should never throw its shadow over the rest of our days on this journey.
