Teaching happiness

If I was to ask you to think of the people that you love most – the people closest to you in this life. And then If I asked you what are the two things that you would love to be able to guarantee them for the rest of their days. What would you say?

Monday sees me trying out something totally new.

When we ask ourselves what are the two most important things in life we find it difficult to come up with an answer. If I was to ask you to think of the people that you love most – the people closest to you in this life. And then If I asked you what are the two things that you would love to be able to guarantee them for the rest of their days. What would you say?

Yet the remarkable thing is that we do so little about them. I have met so many people that had lost their health or happiness or both. They look to me for a solutions – a way back to when they were healthy and happy.

Often conversations only take place about these crucial prizes when they are under challenge or lost altogether.. My Moodwatchers programme always concentrated on health – on how to become healthier. On Monday next I visit a school for the first time with a programme that will educate children about happiness and how to increase it. It’s a new departure and the school in Cootehill need to be congratulated for the way they have embraced this new initiative. Aren’t schools the ideal platforms to teach the future adults of this country how to be healthier and happier? The Happiness Project is being delivered to the Transition Year students. I really hope they love it as much as I have loved preparing it.
