Music and the Mind

I’m delighted to announce that a new podcast called ‘Music and the Mind’ will be launched this Sunday 7th January  at 4pm in the Smock Alley theatre, Dublin

Acclaimed musician Shane Mitchell (from the renowned trad/folk band Dervish) and I have been working in the background on this exciting project for a number of years. Our producer (and project partner) is Amanda Passot Devine. We are very excited about it.

The podcast delves into music’s profound impact on the life journeys of industry pioneers. Expert insights from the fields of health and well-being provide a psychological lens and explore scientific theories behind the transformative power of music.

The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin will officially launch our podcast and we will then host a panel discussion with distinguished guests  Dr Jolanta Burke, Dr Hilary Moss, and John McLaughlin. Together, they’ll unravel the intricate connection between music and well-being. The afternoon concludes with a special performance by our star guest harpist Brídín McGowan.

The panel discussion which will be moderated by RTÉ music producer David Heffernan.
