Shane Martin is a psychologist dedicated to teaching the very best evidence-based psychology to help people protect their mental health and enhance the quality of their lives.

A leader within the area of education he has visited hundreds of schools throughout the island of Ireland working with management teams, teachers, students and parents promoting a psychology of health, happiness and resilience. He has been a keynote speaker at numerous national educational conferences including NAHTNI, NAPD, ACCS, IPPN, INTO, JMB and PDA. Shane addressed the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Education and Skills on the important topic of Positive Mental Health in Schools.

His ‘Moodwatchers’ psychology course has been delivered at community venues throughout the length and breadth of Ireland and he has been a keynote speaker at conferences in Ireland and abroad on a range of topics around empowerment, recovery and happiness.

He has worked extensively with health professionals in Ireland and the UK delivering tailor-made CPD through their specific representative bodies. including HIQA, AOTI, INMO, INDI, IASW, TUSLA, IRSPEN, ISCP etc. He has delivered well-being seminars to hundreds of health professionals in the various Trusts in Northern Ireland over many years. He has also worked with many government departments in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Shane’s seminars have been availed of by many multinational companies in Ireland and throughout Europe.

His seminars are unique because he shares stories and humour, mixing them with evidence-based psychology. People have enjoyed and felt uplifted by them. The audience tend to see themselves in the stories and key messages around well-being ‘land’ with them through the humour. Indeed, Shane has sold-out public theatres up and down the country with them including the Hawks Well in Sligo and the Black Box in Belfast. He is also published poet of three collections and author of the best-selling ‘Your Precious Life -How to Live it Well’ which was published by Orpen Press. A new book on a practical no-nonsense approach to resilience is due to be published in 2024.
